Number One Overzealous Celebrity Aid

With reference to Anne Hathaway’s support of Occupy Wall Street in New York, I wonder why her aid or companion is holding his hand out towards the photographer? http://preview.tinyurl.com/7ph2jbf
Surely the point is this highly successful actor from the 1% is happy to be seen supporting the disgruntled 99%, so why the hand? Is it ‘talk to the hand’ because this overshadowed person ain’t listening? Holding a hand out to try and block a picture at that distance just makes him look silly. Why would Anne Hathaway go out with banners if she didn’t want to be seen supporting a cause?
